Back in September 2020, parts of Manikarnika actress Kangana Ranaut’s Mumbai office were demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), for illegal construction. In a significant development in actor Kangana Ranaut’s Mumbai office demolition case, as per the latest report in India TV, the Maharashtra Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has issued summons to the BMC commissioner. The BMC carried out a demolition drive and bulldozed illegal parts of Kangana’s office situated in Pali Hill, Bandra. Back then, the demolition was stalled after the Bombay High Court ordered a stay.

According to the report, the MHRC has summoned the BMC commissioner Iqbal Chahal in the Kangana Ranaut office demolition case. The report stated that the MHRC has asked the officer to appear before them next year. He is asked to make an appearance on January 20, 2021. Reportedly, an advocate has filed a petition with the MHRC in regards to the demolition case. Chahal has been asked to be present in person before the rights body at 11 AM.

For the unversed, the Mumbai office of actor Kangana Ranaut, Manikarnika Films was demolished by the BMC on September 9. Before that, the actor was issued notices about the alleged illegal construction in her property. The BMC had issued a ‘stop work’ notice to the actress. Kangana flew to Mumbai that day.

In the demolition case, Ranaut had moved the Bombay High Court seeking Rs 2 Crore in damages from the BMC. The Bombay HC reserved its order in the petition filed by Kangana against the BMC. The court termed the BMC’s actions as ‘legal malice’. Later, Kangana also made a tweet rejoicing the Bombay High court’s verdict.
